Canada’s Information Technology Work Permit Program

Planning on hiring IT talent? Canada’s fast-track temporary work permit program for foreign IT workers ended on September 30, 2010, except in Quebec and British Columbia.

Workers hired under this program need to be transitioned to other work permit categories if their employers hope to retain them. Meanwhile, the workers themselves should be considering mechanisms to attain permanent resident status if they want to remain in Canada.

The federal government has also updated the wage guidelines for IT professionals in the seven occupational categories covered by the former program. This new wage information can assist employers seeking new work permit options for their software professionals.

Let Capelle Kane help you plan for and transition your IT work force.
