Fees
Flat fees mean that you know your costs up
front
In most cases CapelleKane is able to provide you with a
flat fee for the work we do. Most lawyers
charge clients by the hour. Our firm prefers to work on a
block fee basis for professional services rendered by a lawyer.
This way there are no surprises for our clients when they
receive their final invoice. However, there are many types
of cases where we do not offer flat fees – cases where the
amount of time required to complete your case can’t
be quantified in advance. For example, cases involving litigation:
such as an appeal to the Immigration and Refugee Board (Appeal
Division) or where the information in your application changes
substantially over the course of our engagement will be billed
by the hour. It is also possible that your application category,
or eligibility for admission to Canada can change due to unforeseen
circumstances. You may experience a change of circumstances,
or immigration enforcement proceedings may begin. Our firm
may receive pertinent information from you following the submission
of your application – information which requires us to take
additional actions in your case. In all instances, whether
we bill on a flat rate or, in more complex cases by the hour,
our firm always endeavors to keep you informed about the costs
of your case.
We don’t offer “No Fee” Consultations
Expect real advice from start to finish
Our lawyers do not offer free consultations. In our experience
a thorough consultation process is a crucial part of the lawyer-client
relationship and the key starting point to a successful professional
relationship. When consulting with CapelleKane you receive
an in-depth analysis of your situation based on your own personal
circumstances. In 10 years of private practice, we’ve
learned that it usually takes a minimum of one hour to adequately
canvass all of the issues and questions with a client. The
consultation period is the basis for building your confidence
in our services and our ongoing representation. While many
of our competitors offer ‘free consultations’
to determine your eligibility as a skilled worker, to determine
your eligibility to sponsor a relative, or assess your eligibility
to enter Canada as a temporary foreign worker our belief is
that “you get what you pay for”. That’s
why our firm charges a flat rate for consultations.
