Betsy Kane
Betsy Kane was called to the Ontario bar 1991 and has been working in the fields of Canadian immigration and citizenship law exclusively since 1992. Her early training was acquired while she was employed at national headquarters of the Department of Citizenship and Immigration from 1992 to 1994.
Betsy Kane is passionate about her work and maintaining the integrity of Canadian immigration laws. She has served as the Chairperson for the Immigration Bar Committee in Ottawa from 1998 to the present through her membership and involvement with the local County of Carleton Law Association (CCLA).
Since 1997, Betsy has served as a primary member and planner for the annual Ottawa Immigration Law Conference. This is a conference designed to offer quality and affordable continuing legal education (CLE) for lawyers in the eastern Ontario region. The popularity of this conference has grown substantially over the last several years making it one of the largest legal conferences offered in the region.
Over the course of her career, Betsy Kane has served on the executive committees of the Canadian Bar Association and Ontario Bar Association (Immigration Sections). In 2007/2008, she will sit as a member-at-large on the Canadian Bar Association (Immigration Section Executive Committee).
Betsy Kane is also a regular contributor to a variety of legal publications such as the CCLA Bulletin and the Ontario Bar Association (Immigration Section) Newsletter.
Betsy’s strength lies in her established record of successfully obtaining for her clients virtually every type of work permit available under Canadian law. She works with employers across the country to explore available options, identify the optimal approach, and quickly secure key personnel in Canada on a temporary and permanent basis.
Betsy Kane holds a B.A. From McGill University as well as an L.L.B. from theUniversity of Windsor (1989).
