Study in Canada

Why study in Canada? Canada’s postsecondary educational institutions have a worldwide reputation for delivering high-quality programs. Tuition fees for international students are relatively low. And, an international student’s Canadian experience can make it easier to immigrate—through the Canadian Experience Class option or one of the many provincial nominee programs.

If you plan to study in Canada for more than six months, you’ll need to apply for a Canadian student visa. Depending on your country of origin, you may also need to apply for a Canadian visitor’s visa. If you plan to study in Québec, you need to apply for CAQ (Certificat d'acceptation du Québec) before being eligible to apply for a Canadian student visa.

International students studying at many institutions across the country apply for a temporary work permit that allows them to work off-campus for up to 20 hours a week during the academic year and full-time during school breaks. Work permits aren’t required for jobs that are on-campus. International students may also be eligible for co-op or internship work permits, where the work is an integral part of their course of study in Canada. Following graduation, work permits are available for up to three years in any type of occupation and allow foreign graduates to work for multiple employers.

Canada has programs to encourage graduates to apply for permanent resident status. Capelle Kane helps students and prospective employers develop a smart, strategic approach to hiring Canadian-educated international students. To get the ball rolling, talk to us first.
